ZBIROVIA a.s., considering the scope of its production program including more than 100 types
of products manufactured in 300 type sizes, is the largest and regarding some ranges also the only
current manufacturer of handicraft tools in the Czech Republic. A wide range of products, such as
pliers, hammers, wrenches and chisels, has been made in ZBIROVIA, a.s. for more than 144 years. The
origins of ZBIROVIA a.s. of today date back to 1860 when nail and stud manufacturing workshop was
established on the site of the present plant. As early as in 1880, it became a small but well-known
plant managed by the owner Mr. Jan Klekner, a son-in-law of Václav Kreisinger, a founder of the
plant, and producing pliers, hammers and light mallets. From 1891 also customers from Vienna,
Hungary, Poland and Italy showed their interest in products of this plant. Therefore, the plant was
expanding and after World War I it had more than 100 employees. Machinery was gradually modernized
and production expanded. In 1929 the plant declared bankruptcy and creditors sold it to Mr. Otto
Tausig at the auction. Thus, the well-known name ZBIROVIA Zbiroh appeared in the Register of
companies for the first time along with a new trademark in the shape of the letter “Z” placed
inside a girder, which has been used by ZBIROVIA up to the present time. Under this trademark,
ZBIROVIA started exporting its products to many countries worldwide, including America, Africa and
Australia. Currently ZBIROVIA’s production program also consists of forgings, powder paint
varnishing, injection molding, joinery, tin and locksmith works, and designing and production of
swages, including heat treatment, in addition to production of handicraft tools. ZBIROVIA a.s.
successfully exports its products most importantly to the countries of Western Europe. As a
manufacturer of handicraft tools, it also has a unique position on the domestic market.
